At the 11th of July 2018, a delegation from eight Columbian universities visited the WCGE.
In May 2004, the presidents of eight leading universities of Columbia formed the “group of the 8” (G8). Their aim is to promote and to encourage the development and quality of their universities and higher education through joint work and synergies among their institutions and to strengthen as a result their regions and their whole country. In order to gain inspirations from the university and research location Germany and to sound out possible cooperation, a delegations of the eight university presidents, the German honorary consul in Columbia, Alejandro José, and further representatives of the universities went on a twelve-day tour of Germany. The WCGE was one stop among further visits to Berlin, Leipzig, Cologne, Karlsruhe, and Munich.
Martin von Broock presented the concept and work of the center with its three pillars–seminars, dialogue processes, and research promotion–to the delegation. He showed, for example, how the approach of the center can be applied to ethical questions of digitalization. Lisa Schmalzried introduced the doctoral program “Ethics and Responsible Leadership in Business” and its topical focus on questions of business, cooperate, and leadership ethics. Subsequently, cooperation and exchange possibilities between the universities, the WCGE, and the doctoral program were discussed like, for instance, seminars for Columbian executives.
