Wittenberg Center for Global Ethics

The Wittenberg Center for Global Ethics focuses on building ethical competences in present and future decision makers in business, politics, and society: It is our intent to increase awareness of social issues, to foster open, transparent discussion and to offer possibilities of responsible action. Founded on solid theoretical concepts- economic ethics approach -  we create opportunities to foster and implement ethics and morality under the condition of globalization, competition and market economy.

The Wittenberg Center was founded in 1998 at the initiative of Andrew Young, former US Ambassador to the United Nations, and Hans-Dietrich Genscher, former German Foreign Minister. Individuals from politics, business, academia and faith based organizations as well as corporations and organizations support the mission of the Wittenberg Center. It is an independent, international, non-profit and inter-denominational organization. There are three legal authorities: A German Association, a German Foundation and an American Foundation.

"… What I see in this Center is the coming together of religion, of people's movements, of politics, and of business with no one having either all of the troubles or all of the answers… but that perhaps in an ongoing dialogue amongst us all, we might all realize that all of our insights - no matter how important - are relative to the insight of others."

"...Gewinner und Verlierer - so darf es nicht sein in der neuen Weltordnung. Alle müssen zu den Gewinnern zählen!... Und das Erkennen der Interessen des Anderen bedeutet auch die Chance für einen selbst."

Hans-Dietrich Genscher
Founder and Honorary President
