Corruption is a pressing problem with serious negative consequences in many countries of the world. Corruption is threatens not only the rule of law. It hamstrings economic development, damages the moral foundations of society, and undermines the personal integrity of individuals.

The fight against corruption is an important imperative of the Wittenberg Center for Global Ethics (WCGE). An extensive scientific study on “prevention of white-collar crime - the theory and practise of fighting corruption” is now available. Based on the state of the art of the international academic literature and selected interviews with experts from business and the judiciary, the study illustrates the key reasons of corruption and presents strategies for prevention.

The authors: Prof. Dr. Ingo Pies is professor of the endowment Chair for Economic Ethics at Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg, initiated by the WCGE. Dipl. Volkswirt Peter Sass and Dipl. Kfm. Henry Meyer zu Schwabedissen hold a scholarship of the WCGE and pursue their Ph.D. at the Chair for Economic Ethics.
