The annual meeting of the German Doktorandennetzwerk Nachhaltiges Wirtschaften (DNW) – an academic network for sustainable development – took place at the Wittenberg-Center from May 19th to 21st 2006.

The DNW is an open forum for interdisciplinary discourse on sustainable economic, ecologic and social activities. It offers young academics networking and information exchange as well as opportunities to present and discuss own research activities. Additionally, the DNW is present within the scientific community through meetings, publications and the editorship of its own paper series.

The annual meeting of the DNW in Wittenberg focused on the triad sustainability, market economy and responsibility. By an academic lecture Prof. Dr. Andreas Suchanek gave input to generate a common ground of understanding. A special subject was the responsibility of private and corporate actors to invest in the conditions of a sustainable social cooperation for mutual advantage.

Additionally, the international conference “Meeting the Future” was conceptualized. The conference is a joint-venture of the DNW and the Centre for Sustainability Management (CSM) at Lüneburg University and will take place from September 21st to 23rd 2006 in Lüneburg.
